GB & I

France have had four International Presidents, while Germany, Belgium and Austria have had three.

41 Club International meets twice a year. The main event is the AGM where all the Associations gather for friendship and fellowship and where any rule changes are discussed at HYM (Half Yearly Meeting). Like any organisation the rules have been laid down over the years and are constantly kept up to date with the changing requirements of the Member Associations. As with any organisation, not all rule changes are universally accepted, but the membership usually abides by the principles of democracy. Incidentally all the workings of 41 International are conducted in English. The AGM normally takes place in April.

The second meeting is the Half-Yearly Meeting or HYM which normally takes place in October. The HYM discusses the finances of 41 International and outlines and debates any proposals that are likely to be raised at the next AGM. The HYM does not have the power to approve any proposals that require a 75% majority.

Official representatives at the AGM & HYM are usually the International Officer or IRO plus another officer, more often than not the President of the Association of each country. Most countries have two votes but some with few Clubs within their Association have only one.

At both the AGM and HYM a pre-tour and post-tour of the country or region are usually arranged. Without exception, these are a splendid way of getting to know the people and the country you are visiting. Furthermore, the tour group is multinational and it is a wonderful way of forging International friendships as you get to know each other on the tour.

If you want more information about these meetings and tours, which everybody is welcome to attend, please contact International Officer, Dave Campbell on international@41club.org

In order to finance the running of 41 International each country pays fees which, over the years, have been a constant source of debate. The structure is a basic fee plus a supplement for each club dependent on how many clubs each country has. As GB&I are by far and away the largest member Association of 41 International, fees based on this structure can become expensive. By shrewd negotiation and amicable compromise, the fees of any one Association are capped at €3000 per annum. This resolution was passed at the AGM in Brasov.

41 Clubs exist in other countries but for whatever reason they do not choose to join 41 International.
