Round Table World 30 event in Dundee 26-05-2015 Club news: Dundee

Dundee 330 Round Table hosted the World 30 event between Thursday May 21st 2015 and Sunday May 24th 2015.  The event was attended by over 70 Tablers, 41 Club members and their wives and partners. Delegates came  from India, South Africa, Germany, Holland, Denmark, Sweden Norway and Scotland.

Scotland is famous for it’s scenery, castles, kilts, whisky and friendship and we have arranged a weekend for you to enjoy as much of Scotland as we can in this short time.

Thursday 21st May
Welcome Party - 7pm - 12pm

The welcome party will take place in the Malmaison hotel in Dundee city centre - here you will have an opportunity to register and collect your welcome pack, meet old friends and make new friends - we have arranged a short whisky tasting for you to start off the weekend!

This will be an informal meet and greet with a buffet to fill you after your travels.

Dress Code; Casual - whatever you want!

Friday 22nd May
Business Meeting and Lunch (10am – 2pm)

The World 30 Business Meeting will take place in Dundee City Chambers.

During the business meeting the Ladies will have the opportunity to try their hand at Scottish Country Dancing before our Ceilidh later in the day.

After our meeting, lunch and drinks will be served in the City Chambers.

Food; Buffet

Post Lunch (2pm – 5pm)

This will be free time to look around Dundee with some Round Table members or your home hosts.

Ceilidh (7pm – 12pm)

We will return to the Malmaison Hotel for an informal Scottish themed night and introduce you to Rabbie Burns, Tam O Shanter and Haggis. A three course Scottish themed meal will be served and afterwards dancing and drinking the night away to the Staffin Island Band.

Saturday 23rd May
Day trip to Glamis Castle – 10am-4pm

Our 41 Club in Dundee are looking forward to hosting our International guests on the Saturday of our World 30 meeting. One of the highlights of previous year’s meetings has been the sharing of snacks and drinks from around the World 30 community. We are planning to repeat this at the Dundee meeting.

The International Cafe will be part of the visit to Glamis Castle on Saturday 23rd May. We would be pleased if your Table or 41 Club would bring along a drink and snack that best represents your country or local area to share with fellow members at Glamis Castle.

We here in Scotland have started things off and will be providing a selection of Whiskies along with traditional Scottish snacks for everyone to enjoy on the day.

Glamis castle is famous for being the Childhood home of the past Queen Mother, the garden and surrounding scenery have been called the gateway to the glens.

This will be a fantastic day out, with lunch,highland games , tastings and a tour.

Gala Dinner - 7pm – 12pm

Our Gala Dinner will be at the Invercarse Hotel on Saturday night.

The Gala Dinner includes a three course meal, a glass of something fizzy on arrival as well as wine and beer on the table to start off the night!

The food will be followed by as little business as possible then party the night away.

Sunday 24th May
Farewell Brunch – 11am – 2pm (Final timing to be confirmed)

Our Farewell Brunch will be held at Discovery Point and you will have an opportunity to visit the famous Captain Scott's polar exploration ship RRS Discovery before saying your goodbyes and heading home!

Food – Breakfast Pastries and Rolls with tea, coffee & fruit juice
