Andy’s swim starts from Teddington on 30th June 2012 and it is going to be a tough 147 miles of choppy water to Calais but with your help it could all be worth it.  He plans to raise £1,000,000 for the Herts Air Ambulance and the Herts Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre.  Donations of any amount can be made via Just Giving, PayPal, direct bank transfer or cheque.  The links are on the website.

His main tool for raising such a large amount of money is a fine Autograph Book.  The Autograph Book is split into two sections; Section Two is for anyone whose name alone will enhance the value of the Book.  These people may or may not have made a donation.  On the website you can view the autographs he has acquired of people such as Boris Johnson, Dame Elizabeth Taylor, Sir Stirling Moss, David Cameron, Sir Patrick Moore, Rolf Harris, Dame Vera Lynn, Rick Wakeman, Virginia McKenna, Frederick Forsyth, Duncan Goodhew, Sheila Hancock, Tony Blair and hundreds more!  Every week more are added.

Section One of the Autograph Book is for any company, individual, group of individuals, club, school or organisation who would like have their name and logo alongside such famous people of our time.  However, they have to come up with a donation of £1,000 or more for the privilege.  Welwyn 41 Club has already done this; and helped to bring the current money raised to over £26,000.

After the swim all the names will be finely mounted and the leaves bound in leather. The Book will then be sold at auction but by that time it will already have served its purpose and £1,000,000 (or close to) will hopefully already be in the bank.

It would be great to see lots of 41 Clubs help him in this crazy World record-making event by getting a Section One entry.  Alternatively, could your Club make a smaller donation?  We do hope you will want to help.
