Peterhead / Castle Frankenstein 41 Clubs Share a Memorable Weekend
A chance e-mail last summer from Reinhard Gursch of Castle Frankenstein 41 Club in Germany to Gerry Smith,Club Contact for Peterhead & District 41 Club suggested a possible visit to north -east Scotland by the Germans. Several e-mails to and fro finally saw 3 members of the Castle Frankenstein club touch down at Aberdeen airport on Friday 2 November for what turned out to be a tremendous weekend of fun and fellowship. The Friday evening took the form of a mini Burns Supper with haggis obviously on the menu; Saturday afternoon saw us enjoy full match-day hospitality at the home of Aberdeen Football Clubwhere we saw the home team triumph over theie deadly rivals, Dundee United. A Guy Fawkes Bonfire and fireworks display followed by stovies (another Scottish delicacy) courtesy of Peterhead member Jim Finnie rounded off Saturday before flying back home on Sunday morning.(Why not visit finnie4x4.co.uk to see what Jim gets up to?)
Plans are now in hand for a return visitto Castle Frankenstein in August 2008
The attached photo shows our German guests Reinhard, Peter and Johannes 4th, 5th and 6th from left with their Peterhad hosts on the Sunday morning. Despite the arduous weekend, all are looking remarkably fit and well
