CONGRATULATIONS
National President Malcolm receives an illuminated certificate from Mayor of Pershore Chris Parsons and MP for
West Worcestershire Harriett Baldwin after completing the 100 mile MILLENNIUM WAY.
Just back from completing the 100 Millennium Way which I walked with Hugh Milward our National Sales Officer to raise the profile of our Association and OYT - my Presidential Charity.
Without doubt, Hugh and I experienced 41 Club at its very best. The help, friendship, hospitality, encouragement, generosity and banter, not only made the walk possible [certainly for me as I managed to get a huge and very painful blister on the first day of the walk and would have packed up had it not been for everyone around me] but also made the walk a lot of fun! 41 Club is alive and well - of that there is no doubt.
Someone said to me - 'it's just like old times...we are actually doing something!' The term 'still Table-ing' fits us very well indeed!
My deepest thanks to everyone who made this walk possible. From Chris and Ralph who managed the entire project to those who welcomed us into their homes and gave us a bed for the night, to the many clubs who entertained us in the evening and to those who took a day off to walk with us - even from as far away as Hornchurch - you have given Hugh and myself an experience to remember for the rest of our lives.
And a special thanks to Pershore 41 Club who arranged the spectacular welcome at the end of the journey with Champagne, the MP and Mayor of the town as well as a young lady who kindly bathed my feet [bless her] and lunch and brass bands! Your kindness reduced me to tears [as I think the picture shows]!
More later when I get back to my blog. If your club would like to sponsor me for the walk - £1 for every mile - it will be gratefully received and will go a long way toward the £80,000 I hope we can raise together this year for OYT.
Thanks again to so many people for a truly memorable 2 weeks.'
Yours in Continued Friendship
Malcolm Lockey
