41 CLUB ITALIAN EARTHQUAKE APPEAL

I am thrilled and honoured to have been appointed International Officer for a second year at the Southport AGM.

International has, to me, always been the most rewarding aspect of Round Table and 41 Club and there are so many opportunities available to us to make new friends and catch up with old ones, enjoying tremendous fun and fellowship along the way. In these days of budget travel it needn’t cost a fortune either!

Perhaps the best way to show how I and my committee can help is to summarise the Job Profile of the International Officer:

The overall purpose is to co-ordinate all International Activities for the Association and to represent it at relevant International events.

Specific responsibilities include:

Co-ordinating International events on behalf of the Association

Representing the Association at International Meetings

Acting as a liaison officer for international visitors visiting the UK and UK 41’ers visiting other countries. Provide information to clubs wishing to make visits in other countries.

Promoting international relationships within the Association. Participating in and encouraging International membership initiatives.

Encouraging and promoting ‘international twinning’ arrangements between clubs

Providing via the Webmaster and National Communications Officer, regular information to promote International activities within the Magazine, Newsletter and Website.

Maintaining the ‘International Calendar’

Co-ordinating International visitors and activities at National Conference.

Ensuring all relevant information regarding the Association is passed to other countries for publication.

Managing the International Committee setting objectives and reporting progress to the National Executive.

Thankfully I have help! My colleagues on the International Committee are:

Lawrence Bamber, National Councillor for Region 7, Greater Manchester;

Dave Campbell, National Councillor for Region 25, Kent;

and Brian Southgate, National Councillor for Region 20. Their details can be found under ‘Clubs and Regions’ on the 41 Club homepage.

So, to summarise, I am delighted to be in post post for a second year and look forward to helping you get the most out of the many opportunities that exist for international travel and fellowship. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if I can be of service. We’d also like to know about any twinning arrangements you may have as we now have a database of around 100 Clubs who regularly go overseas and host visitors.

Finally, a small plea – If you are going to an overseas event please let me know. If you are the only GB&I member we can get you one of President Richard’s banners and a small gift to present.
