Region 8

Now that Godwin Stewart has moved onto the National Board in the position of the 'National Communications Officer' ( I have taken on the role of the Region 8 National Councillor (as of December 2016).

I hope I can carry on the good work that Godwin achieved during his tenure....

Region 8 is a comparatively small but densely populated Region in the North-West of England. An almost direct replica of Round Table Area 8 Lancs & Manx, this Region includes parts of Lancashire and the Isle of Man, but also small parts of Greater Manchester, all of Merseyside and a bit of Cheshire.

On the mainland (or "on the island" as the Manx would say, because the Isle of Man is the mainland for them!), the Region stretches from Southport across to Leyland, down the M61 to Horwich, down to Warrington (my club) then across to Widnes, Huyton, then Liverpool and back up to Southport via Crosby and Formby.

We boast the first ever ex-Tablers' Club formed right here in Liverpool in 1936 - Liverpool No 1!

Of the four clubs that founded our Association in 1945, another two besides Liverpool N°1 are close by: Lytham St. Annes N°3 is just the other side of the Ribble Estuary from Southport in Region 5 Lancashire & Cumbria, and Wakefield N°4 is only a short hop past Manchester and over the Pennines into Region 6 Yorkshire.

Wherever you may be in the Region, one of the 20+ Clubs will be near to you.

If you're a 41 Club member in the area looking for a friendly club to hook up with then let me know and I'll put you in contact. If you're an ex-Tabler moving to this part of the world, or already living here, and wanting to join a local 41 Club then please do get in touch.

Cheers, Paul
